Description: A panel Q&A session with alumni discussing various post-graduation pathways, including General Practice, Military dentistry, Specialty training, AEGD/GPR programs, and Corporate dentistry.
What I Learned
I gained a clearer understanding of the different career paths available after dental school and the advantages and challenges of each option. Alumni shared firsthand experiences about transitioning from dental school into practice or residency, how they chose their paths, and what they wish they had known earlier. The discussion helped me understand how to align my interests with different training programs, what skills are expected after graduation, and how to strategically plan for the next steps.
How the Activity Relates to Coursework or Career Goals
This event directly supports my career planning by helping me evaluate post-graduate options such as specialty training and residency pathways. It also connects with my current coursework and clinical training by highlighting the competencies needed for various roles in dentistry. As I work toward a future in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, hearing from alumni helped reinforce the importance of building clinical experience, preparing for competitive programs, and developing a roadmap for my professional development.
