Description:
The first general body meeting of the Asian American Dental Student Association (AADSA) was an inclusive event that introduced the organization’s mission to celebrate cultural diversity, provide peer support, and promote leadership within the dental community. While AADSA centers on uplifting Asian and Asian American voices, the meeting welcomed students from all backgrounds to engage in cross-cultural dialogue and build community.
I learned how cultural identity and shared experiences can foster meaningful connections in a rigorous academic environment. This event also highlighted the importance of empathy, awareness, and representation in dentistry. Participating in AADSA supports my career goal of becoming a culturally competent provider who can connect with patients from diverse backgrounds and contribute to a more inclusive profession.
