Suturing Workshop
Activity Description: Suturing Workshop – Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Society
Date & Time: July 8, 12–1 PM
Location: Lecture Hall A
Facilitators: OMSS D4 Students
This hands-on Suturing Workshop provided valuable training in basic suturing techniques essential for oral surgery and clinical procedures. Led by experienced D4 students from the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Society (OMSS), the session focused on proper needle handling, knot tying, and precision placement of sutures.Participants brought their own suture kits and practiced various suture patterns under direct guidance, helping to build foundational skills and boost confidence in performing surgical closures.
Connection to Coursework and Career Goals:
This workshop complements our coursework in oral surgery and clinical skills by offering a safe environment to practice essential techniques outside of the operatory. It also reinforces the importance of manual dexterity and attention to detail—skills that are critical for success in clinical rotations and future specialization, particularly in oral and maxillofacial surgery. Participating in events like this supports my long-term goal of becoming a competent and confident dental surgeon or even general dentist.
