- What you learned: Dr. Jess Micale shared practical and encouraging advice for students preparing to enter clinic and transition into professional practice. One key takeaway was to start denture cases early in third year, as they are time-consuming and require multiple appointments. She also emphasized the importance of maximizing clinic exposure, even on unscheduled days, to build efficiency and confidence. Consistency was another theme—sticking to the same faculty member for each procedure helps reduce confusion and streamline learning. As a new graduate, Dr. Micale reminded us that procedures like crowns may initially take up to three hours, but with time and repetition, speed and confidence will come. Her insights were both realistic and reassuring for those of us soon entering the clinic.
