Ethics in Dental Education

  1. SPEA (Student Professionalism and Ethics Association)
  2. May 21, 2023 in Lecture Room A from 12-1pm, presented by Dr. Eugene Dunne
  3. Dr. Dunne discussed the definition of ethics (and related terms), pillars of ethics in healthcare, and opened a discussion about ethics in the dental field. Through the discussion with other attendees — which included students and professors — we explored topics including the ethics of recommending procedures to patients, motivations behind and consequences of insurance policies, and the use of AI in dental education.
  4. This is relevant to both my educational and professional career as it enriches my understanding of ethical principles and practices in situations I will encounter in dental school and beyond.
  5. Once approved, the description is automatically displayed in a post on your e-portfolio.
