Special Olympics Villanova
On November 2, 2024, I volunteered at the Fall Pennsylvania Special Olympics with ‘Special Smiles’ at Villanova University. Along with other dental students from Temple, I had the opportunity to work with many incredible athletes to record their screening data, apply fluoride, create mouth guards, and provide oral hygiene instructions. Between shifts, we cheered on the athletes as they competed in many events throughout the day. The event was supervised by Dr. Jason Bresler. This event gave me the chance to interact with and provide care to athletes with special needs. It also highlighted the importance of community involvement which is a valuable lesson for my career as a dentist.
