Ethics in Dental Education

  1. SPEA PRES1-3Name of sponsoring organization
    1. Student Professionalism and Ethics Association
  2. Details of the activity (e.g., where, when)
    1. 5/21/24 Lecture Room A 12-1PM
  3. What you learned
    1. I learned about components of ethics in education such a patient autonomy and providing patients with all the information so they can make an informed decision. There were decisions about what you would do in different scenarios where ethics comes into play in a dental setting.
  4. How the activity relates to coursework or your career goals
    1. Ethics is an important part of our dental education and treating patients since we face many dilemmas such as if we are going to schedule a new patient when the schedule is full or to cancel a patient for a VIP patient. Patients adhere to dentist recommendations on treatment plans if the insurance does not cover it and may think it is not a necessary procedure so it is important to educate the patients.
