Responsibilities and Requirements of Prescribing Schedule II Opioid Drugs: Updated 2025
In November 2025, I completed the online CE course ‘Responsibilities and Requirements of Prescribing Schedule II Opioid Drugs,’ hosted by Viva Learning, which is in good standing with the Academy of General Dentistry. The purpose of this course was to understand regulatory responsibilities when prescribing Schedule II opioids in clinical practice – and includes best practices for pain management, regulations for prescribers and dispensers, and dental office procedures for managing vulnerable or substance use disorder patients. The knowledge gained through this course will be used continuously with my patients, to make sure the standard of care is being met every time.
