The Value of Post Graduate General Dentistry Programs on May 5th at Timmons Hall.<\/p>\n
Lecture about the General Practice Residency (GPR) program at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center offered me \u00a0a valuable glimpse into what postgraduate general dentistry training can look like in a hospital-based setting. As a dental student preparing to enter the clinical phase of my education, learning about this program reinforced the importance of continued growth after dental school\u2014both clinically and professionally. This lecture provided information on how to improve PASS application, interview skills, as well as how to find right program fit.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n What stood out to me most about the Newark Beth Israel GPR is the strong emphasis on comprehensive care and clinical autonomy. Residents are entrusted with managing cases typically referred to specialists, such as complex endodontic treatments, oral surgery procedures, and pediatric cases in the operating room. I <\/span>was also particularly impressed by the integration of hospital-based care. The exposure to medically complex patients and interdisciplinary collaboration with physicians prepares residents for situations beyond the scope of a typical private practice.<\/p>\n Attending this lecture helped me recognize that a program like Newark Beth Israel\u2019s GPR could be instrumental in bridging the gap between dental school and independent practice.
