SPEA Ethics in Action, Open Mic Lunch & Learn
On April 4th, 2025, I attended a lunch & learn event hosted by the Student Professionalism and Ethics Association called Ethics in Action, an open mic event, in which speakers discussed ethical dilemmas they’ve faced in clinical practice and patient care, and offered advice on how to navigate a multitude of situations. Some of the speakers included Dr. Boberick, Dr. Elice, a clinical hygienist, and current dental students who have been in clinic for a bit. I learned about the importance of honesty for building trust with my future patients, as well as some insight on how to diffuse negative situations. I really appreciated the candid advice offered by the speakers as I look to them as mentors, and will definitely hold their recommendations close to my heart as we head to clinic in just a few short weeks.
